Abstract |
INTRODUCTION In squash, the stance occurs to that kinds of the lunge task allows the player to rapidly stop the progression of the body, form a secure base from which to play the forehand drive shot, and move back into the court to prepare for the next shot. The purpose of this study was to compare the kinematics and kinetics of the lower extremity of elite squash players performing close and open stance forehand drives using the squash games. METHOD The Six male elite squash players participated in this study. Subjects performed forehand drive each stance condition. In order to collect the kinematic and kinetic data, an AMTI force platform and 10 Vicon cameras were used and synchronized. Paired sample t-test was used to statistical analysis and statistical powers were calculated by using the software package G*power 3.
RESULT There was no significant effect on the lower extremity angles and moments in sagittal plane between the close and open stance. whereas close stance was significant higher RoM of hip and ankle joint than open stance in frontal plane. Angular velocity of lower extremity was significant difference between stance conditions. Finally, Net vertical impulse and mean force was significant higher in close stance than open stance. CONCLUSION Close stance had better benefit of required time when the players hit the ball than open stance. To compensate for this advantage of time, however, close stance seems to be more physical strength on lower extremity than open stance in long lasting the squash games. |
