Abstract |
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to identify the influences of emotional intelligence and burnout on happiness for elite Chinese swimming athletes. METHOD Participants were 77 Chinese swimming Champion come from Shenyang, Dalian, Beijing. They submitted responses to three questionnaires measuring emotional intelligence, burnout, and happiness respectively. We conducted the Exploratory Factor Analysis and Cronbach α Analysis to found out Construct Validity and Reliability. Median Split used for turning the continuous variable, Emotional Intelligence, Burnout, into a 3 categorical levels and the data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. Finally We conducted Correlation and Regression Analysis. RESULT Physical Development-Positive Enforcement and Sport Achievement-Social Relationships were significantly different according to the variables of emotional intelligence. Physical Development-Positive Enforcement was significantly different according to the variable of Burnout. There is a interaction effect on Physical Development-Positive Enforcement. Emotional Intelligence, Burn out, Happiness are strongly Correlated. Sport Achievement-Social Relationships was influenced by Emotional Control, Emotional-Physical Burn out and Achievement decline. Physical Development-Positive Enforcement was influenced by awareness of others emotion and Emotional Control. CONCLUSION Based on these results, Happiness of Chinese swimming Athletes was differentiated by level of Emotional Intelligence and Burn Out. Emotional Intelligence, Burn out, Happiness are strongly Correlated. Fianlly, Happiness of Elite Chinese swimming athletes was influenced by Emotional Intelligence and Burn out. |
