Abstract

OBJECTIVES
The objective of this study is to examine the motivation, intention, attitude, and perceptions of ease of use, usefulness, and their relationship to sport participation among primary consumers of sport contents on YouTube in university students.
METHODS
This study employed a questionnaire to examine the motivation, intention, attitude, perceived ease of use and usefulness, and sport participation of YouTube sport contents users in university students. A total of 316 data sets were analyzed. Correlation and multiple regression analyses were conducted to verify the relationships among the factors.
RESULTS
A notable correlation was identified among motivation, intention, attitude, perceptions of ease of use and usefulness, and sport participation in university students who used YouTube sport contents. The multiple regression analysis revealed that the motivation to seek information, entertainment, and vicarious satisfaction from YouTube sport contents significantly influenced perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude toward use, intention, and sport participation.
CONCLUSIONS
The present study corroborates the existence of a significant relationship among factors associated with the utilization of YouTube sport contents by university students. However, subsequent investigations must ascertain the mechanisms underlying the relationship between these psychological factors and sport participation. This entails not only examining the relationships among these factors but also investigating their direct and mediated effects.
